I am wondering if any parent has ever really sat back and pondered what it would be like to be in your disabled childs world. As mentioned i have a daughter with autism who is high function, but i also have a young cousin who is very low functioning.

I see him during special family ocassions and i often sit back and try to imagine what it would be like to be him.

Has anyone else ever tried this?
and what did you imagine it to be like.

Smile

I have. I watched a BBC Documentary last night that I downoaded called THE AUTISM PUZZLE.... it is a subject close to my heart to try and find out how a person with this condition views the world. In this docu. a few people can talk about what it is like and it's facinating... try to get hold of it for a viewing...

I love to sit back and watch the kids I work with...... someone phrased this condition so well in that docu.... it's like the messages are going in but instead of going to destination A they go to destination B - like being a foreigner in a weird contry whose language you don't speak and customs you don't understand....

I have a good friend who has Asperger's and he always tells me it's not him that is at fault - it's the rest of us "normal" guys who don't bother to learn his culture and ways of communicating ...right on mate!!

Jenni... I downloaded this docu via a torrent site but now I can't find the link....sorry.... I know Gavin surfs the torrents so maybe he can help us to find it again...sorry...

It took me 5 days to download this as there were only 2 torrent shares for it but now they seem to have gone from the search of places like www.meganova.org and www mininova.org and www.demonoid.com

You will need to have something like Bit Torrent to download and share your torrents (sorry if you know all this already Laughing ) DID YOU KNOW THAT BRAN COHEN the creator of Bit Torrent has Apsperger's....

If I find it I will post the link here for you....

I am trying to find and download this video which looks interesting...

http://www.nas.org.uk/nas/jsp/polopoly.jsp?d=434&a=5101

If it doesnt work you can find the link at www.mentalhealthcare.co.uk in their resources section...

If I find it I will also share the link....

Cheers
