Here are some ways to resist giving into peer pressure when you are confronted with it.
1. Think over what you are getting pressured into. What are you risking and the consequences of your actions.
2. Give an excuse. Say "I have to leave".
3. Make a joke about it or just laugh it off.
4. Simply be firm say “no,” or “no thanks.”
Here are some ways to avoid negative peer pressure before it happens.
1. Make friends with people who have similar values as you do.
2. Before going to a party have a plan of action if something goes wrong or you or pressured into something.
3. Never leave your drink unattended as things can be slipped into it.
4. Introduce your friends, boyfriends, and girlfriends to your parents.
5. Practice saying “no” with family members.
6. Hang out with a group of friends that you trust.
7. Be friends with people who say no to drugs and drink and think it is not cool to have sex.

Yes, good ideas. Kids need to be able to say "no" as well as "yes". Even when it looks as if "everybody is doing it", it's usually just a few who make a lot of noise about what they are doing.
